(Always In) Peasant Style

Just in time for summer to arrive, here are a couple of different looks for peasant style- one with a peasant blouse and shorts and another with a dress.

Can’t wait…

(Always In) Style- Summer Full Skirt for Work

I see a lot of suits with city shorts that I love, but I really don’t feel comfortable wearing shorts to work, even as part of a suit.

For summer, a full skirt and shell/ cardigan combination is a nice alternative.

Until a girl can just wear her shorts and flip flops around the yard, that is!

(not that I’m counting or anything…)

Maxi Dress

So my girl Suzie over at Urban Country Style did a post a couple of days ago on the maxi dress.  She wanted to know how her readers wore theirs…

So…

I am being brave and putting pics of myself wearing one of my maxi dresses two different ways.

Here is my usual way.  I’m with Suzie- denim is my favorite, but any little cardigan or shrug will do.

It was funny she asked though, because just last week I actually decided to wear it like this instead.

Still with the jean jacket, but this time I folded the top under and wore it as a maxi skirt with a wide brown belt and a white t-shirt.

I really liked it this way as well and will do it again!

Maxi dresses rock for summer.  I love them for traveling or kicking around town doing errands.  You can’t beat how easy they are, and, pretty much no matter what you do with them, they always look cute!

How about you?  Head on over to Urban Country Style and let Suzie know how you wear your maxi dress.

(Always In) Style- Jean Jacket

So we are still kind of undecided on the weather around here.  Some days warmer, but lots of cool days, and rain lately, too.

It makes it kind of hard to figure out what to wear.

One thing that is helping me out (no matter what the scenario out the window in the morning) is my jean jacket.

Easy to wear with tights and a tunic and boots for colder days, and just as easy to wear with a skirt and pumps for warmer.

Have a great week!

(Always In) Style- White Denim Pencil

A pencil skirt is always one of my favorites to wear to work.  I have a black high-waisted pencil skirt that is my absolute fave, but I also have a navy one with a kick pleat in the back and a gray one with lots of seaming that has a blazer to match.

Great pieces, but a tad wintry.  I’m ready for something more appropriate for spring and summer.

If you are like me, you buy a new pair of white jeans every summer or so.  Blue jeans of mine may last, and often do, for years.  Probably years longer than they should…

But white jeans just don’t seem to last as long.  This year I decided to take my old white jeans and make a pencil skirt out of them.  There are a lot of tutorials online to show you how to do this.

I’m not quite done…but I’m hoping these sets will inspire me to get finished!!

Can I just say how much I love that beaded clutch?  I do.  A lot.

Ok.  Off to sew…and then maybe bead…

Have a great week, everyone!

ALWaYs In STylE- SPriNg ShOppInG SprEe

This past Friday, which marked the first day of spring break for me (yahoo!), I may or may not have gone shopping with my mom.  And really, really celebrated.

And I may or may not have gotten a little carried away…

…it may or may not have involved new snakeskin pumps and cork wedges with gold cloth…

…and new Neon Buddha ‘Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet’ pants and a black, drapey cotton dress…

…and plaid shorts and a navy and white striped t-shirt with a boat neck and tie waist…

…ok, ok, and a skirt that can also be worn as a top.

I wish I could say that everything was a steal, but, to be honest, it is all new spring stuff, and none of it was even close to being on sale.

That being said, I do not have even one pair of pumps, and I have been wanting some for, literally, years.  And I’m a teacher.  I should have been wearing pumps with my bun everyday!

And I have been wearing the same 2 pairs of shorts for the last 5 years.  No exaggeration there, either.

And the shirt, shoes, and dresses are all items I will wear to work and at home for, probably, years.  They are good quality and will last, and that’s how I am with my clothes.  I buy pretty classic pieces and wear and wear and wear them.

And I had a really fun day with my mom.  She found some things too, and the town we went to was a 2 hour drive (our town has a serious lack of options for shopping) so we had a nice visit, fun shopping, a yummy lunch, and an all around good day.  And that’s kinda priceless.

So there.

Here’s a shot of items that are pretty close to what I ended up with.

Have a great week, everyone!

A dress is always a great and easy option to wear to work.  Professional and polished.

One piece, a few accessories, and you are good to go.

Pair with a cardigan or jacket for work and then with bare arms for even evening.  I love these options for spring.  The black lets the colors pop.

Have a great week, everyone.

(Always In) Style- Coral Jeans Inspiration

Brightly coloured jeans is proving to be a huge trend for spring 2012.

I am so glad I got my coral pair at Winners for 20 dollars.  I have seen ads for them for, well, considerably higher.

Here is an inspiration shot on how to wear coloured jeans.  I like them with both neutrals and another strong colour for balance.

Coral and turquoise, anyone?

Have a stylish week, everyone!

(Always In) Style- Red Carpet

Oh my.

The Oscars were too much.

For those of us without a red carpet to walk upon, perhaps this will do.

Have a great week, everyone!
